Quick question, not sure how normal it is, but to all those who have or have had a 4L60E Auto Trans shift kitted, how hard is the gear selection change?

For Example:

When the car is hot/been running, turn it on, pull the shifter from P to D, does it thump/really bang into the gear or is it gentle?

Reason I ask is, the way I tuned my box with the Stage II kit, was to have the pressure set so that the shifts whilst driving are very quick/slightly 'firm' but not thudding, car rocking pressure. But should the initial gear selection really be a hard and I emphasise, the 'HARD' shift

Mines not too Hard , still uses a bit of force to move it from P to D. And i get the "thud", but all commodores Ive been in have this gearbox selection "thud".
Its more noticeable on lowered cars too , Its got something to do with the gearbox letting the diff move or something along those lines . You will notice when you change gears from P to D your cars arse will drop in the rear

Hmm fair enough. Yeah mine is a decent thud.

I have noticed the back end drop on the change, looks tough haha!

Hahah, hydraulics bro.

Well mine's not shift kitted yet and mine smashes pretty hard thudding into reverse... Not so much (if it all) into drive though.
What'd you get done for your shift kit?

Mine was
Corvette servo
Stage 2 transgo shift kit
and i think he upped the pressure lol

Cost like $350 all up (including parts and labor)

Unless you pull the trans apart and fit Kevlar Bands it will never shift very good.
Realy not worth kitting a 4l60E unless you go right thru it.

I changed the shift times and bumped up the pressure settings in the ECU memcal chip.It shifts a thousand times better now, firm and quick with no lag any more.It cost me nothing too.I service my auto trans filter and fluid every 20,000 k's.So far its been excellent and even runs a little bit cooler around town than it used to.

Do all your own tuning do you? I'm trying to find the best avenue for my car to get tuned. Since it's on Dual Fuel and all.

Not too shabby, Exactly what I was gonna do. What's it drive like? Are the shifts extreme?

How much do you think i'd be looking at for wider bands in?
