You should be able to use a T5 from an earlier model.

i dont have a damn clue, im umming and arring about doing an eco conversion and the donor is a auto and i have a love for manuals..

And i would think a manual would be the same price as an auto ecotec, why would it be more expensive?

the donor car im looking at is auto, the wreckers want about 800 for a manual so itll turn out cheaper to get this one..

They are different gearboxes maybe? Pretty big difference.

Manuals are very saught after, so they attract a higher price.

T5 is a much cheaper conversion.

i think he was refering to the box there mate, cus the vn-vr used the t5 box so did the s1 vs..

correct.. a t5 manual setup from vn s2 onwards will work fine with the VS ecotec (vn s1 was only 6 bolt flywheel and will require 8 bolt to work on later models) . just means you will have cable operated clutch instead of hydraulic.
