Hallo, i want to put a V8 into my opel Rekord-E (seems like Hoden Commodore).

My problem, here in Germany you can't get a Holden Commodore

So i must search parts of other models.

My questions:
- Wich V8 Machine can i use (chevrolet,Rover,..)
- Wich Transmission can i use (TH350,TH400, ...)
- Wich Tailshaft (Lenght,bore,..??)

A big Diff is installed, you called a 10 bolt.

I search all informations with part numbers and dimensions.

Pics are the best information for me, because my english is terrible.

Thanks a lot at all,:thumbsup:

Well now its not often we get this on here.

Does the Opel have Rack and Pinion Steering? Otherwise, it will be hard to fit a Chev V8 in it. Most likely be the same for a Rover V8 too. You can use a TH350/TH400 if you want. Or also you can try as a manual. The problem using a TH350/TH400 its large, could not fit in the Opel main part. I reckon you should try and get a Holden 253/308, the engine K frame correctly and try to measure it your Opel. Use can use either TH350/400 or the Aussie 4 speed manual or also Trimatic car.
Here is my VB SL/E which has a Holden 308. Give roughly idea which you need to for your Opel.

Converted that back to English using Altavista, its nasty mate haha. Maybe just post it again in English, he seems fluent enough.

Sorry I can't really help tho, but I'm sure someone on here can. Goodluck mate.

Thanks for the translation, but please write in english, it's easier to translate for me.

So where can i get the Holden 253 /308, where was it build in ??

Where can i find Holden machines, in wich vehicle manufacturer??

Here in germany it's easier to get a Chevy V8 than a Holden V8.

In the Opel Diplomat was a 5.7 Litre Chevy Machine.

Have anyone a pic of the Trimatic, than i can search in germany.

Maybe it was in another model of Opel.

another question: did you have a Paper where all Datas of the Car (VIN, Tyres,Lenght,Weight, ....) in Australia like this:

ImageShack - Hosting :: briefmantabzi0.jpg

It's the german version, who had this "Fahrzeugbrief" he own the Car.

Thanks a lot for all your help...

Hang on, does your Rekord have a 2.0 Litre 4 Cylinder motor under the hood?. If so i don't think a V8 will fit, no matter how you try.

No a Rekord is not a Commodore basically, the front end is shorter than a Commodore. Thats why Holden had to graft the bigger bother, the Opel Senator front end onto a Rekord body cause its longer. Actually later on, Opel released an Opel Commodore, the same as our VB/VC Commodores.

still, going by the engine bay pic a v8 should fit nicely as there isn't much length difference

The Commodore and the Rekord are the same Body with diffrent Front.

The Commodore Front , same as Senator and Monza, is 4 cm longer.

A V8 does fit, there is a boy who had a V8 Diplomat machine in his Monza-A2.

Another one had fit a Lotus Omega machine in his Opel Rekord.

The most people get the 3.0 24V or 4.0 24V CIH in there Rekords.

The boy with the Monza V8 didn't have a legal regestration, thats the problem.

If i had a regestration (Fahrzeugbrief) of anyone from Australia or a Homologation with V8 i can get it legal, thats what i want.

My problem is i don't know where Holden fits his machines in or wich machine is the same.

But i must to compliment this forum, its are very, very interesting and informativ.
