I just saw this.
It’s concerning that someone doing home maintenance on their car is considered dangerous and a Saftey violation of Youtubes terms and conditions.

The reported and investigated content violation referred to the unexpected blow by that came from the motor they installed on their Adventra. The oil cap was off for about a minute or less and that is apparently some sort of environmental disaster.

I wonder if this sort of thing has anything to do with it? Yet Sam still has his channel.

Do our favourite car themed channels get deleted because they show dangerous practices like oil changes or heaven forbid someone replaces their own blinker fluid.

Do car forums get shut down because someone showed how to change a wheel or make a simple repair that a professional mechanic was not able to do.

Far Kurnell.
How can this happen, when there are multiple car themed programs, from places that are not Australia, on the major TV networks which show more dangerous stuff.
Think they are fighting a losing battle. There is no-one to act as a referee, and no ombudsman in these disputes.

I was just reading today how many major accidents have happened on Top Gear and The Grand Tour, after Freddie Flintoff was injured recently....... and they are professionals.

Wonder who does the approvals on the porn sites ? No dangerous equipment or climate changing emissions being depicted there ?

******* yanks for ya.

I see plenty of dodgy **** on US channels regularly but we don't see those getting banned.

i thought it was the video where he removed the radiator cap on hot engine that caused it

It’s a sad indictment on YouTube and social media in general if a non safety “safety” issue is behind what caused the channel ban.

In terms of burn safety, all the radiator caps I’ve seen have a detent on the radiator neck that allowed the cap to be turned to the first stop and the pressure to be bled and then required the cap to be pushed down and turned further before the cap could be removed. It was a design choice that prioritised safety to reduced the hot spray hitting you in the face, something lost in the VF design.

If YouTube is so concerned with safety, then maybe they should report Holden to ACCC for their unsafe VF radiator cap design and push for a recall rather than banning a chanel :p

Also the argument that it’s unsafe to remove the oil filler cap on the rocker cover while the engine is running (as some mentioned) completely ignores all that nasty stuff coming out of the tail pipe in much higher concentrations  Sadly many channels don’t show an exhaust evacuation tube being connected to the tail pipe when the engine is running… Sadly YouTube’s supposed safety stance also won’t help the millions who live next to very busy freeways

So really, I suspect there is something else going on behind the channel ban. Maybe there is some disgruntled competing channel that is engineering these complaints that are leading to the ban? Probably all because of $$$.

Won’t be the first time someone has built up their business on social media platforms only to be shafted but the Terms Of Use.

The bigger issue is that there seems to be no right of appeal and seemingly no legal protection for channel owners.. I expect it’s all bound up in TOS favourable only to YouTube. Surely there is some legal recourse where a court should be able to find issue with some contract terms and define them as unconscionable which puts some balance back into the

It’s all a game with $$ at stake and the big boys have all the cards.

But let’s not forget that YouTube itself used to be called a criminal group by the media owners. now the ex criminals are looking after our safety?

The problem with youtube as well as most of the other social media platforms is the system and the people who run it and who aren't accountable to anybody. Try doing something about spam accounts and it's mission impossible, report someone for a minor infraction and see them banned, there is no logic to the systems used.

It's time government start regulating and holding these business to account for their actions if they can't put in place transparent systems where people have rights that aren't simply determined by the algorithm and advertising $$$.

Nope. When they put a replacement LY7 motor in. It had sat for 9 years. There was so much blow by and smoke poured out the oil cap. That motor crapped itself.

How were they to tell it was a flogged motor? Impossible.

What they have been pulled up
on though is what bugs me. I’m went through community guidelines and them removing the oil cap falls in with hate speech, encouraging people to do dangerous things, anti government videos, bullying, threatening people. Fk me, they had some smoke from a motor and YouTube are deleting the channel. They aren’t telling people to pick up guns. They aren’t spewing hate speach.

Bloody wrong on a moral level.

Agree but they can’t be the king makers if there’s transparency
