i have a option audio OAK600 amp and im wondering how big of a power wire i need.

the El'cheepo wire kit i got had 10gauge? wire in it and it heats up extremely quickly (10-15 mins its almost too hot to touch)

so whats the recommended wire gauge for this amp? i have 1 sub on it @300rms

also where can i get some cheap?

Hey Mate, I Would hazard a guess that it would be 4awg easy...
that what my rubicon runs and its 2ohm stable @ 1000w Rms..

Cheers
Brendon.

If it's only the 1 amp, 8gauge will just be enough.

Ideally you want 4 gauge, it's the best starting point when you get into car audio.

Why online? Aerpro power kits are available on eBay for pretty cheap, same with any WOW store. Same with Ryda etc

8 gauge plenty for a single AMP, however you can just go to JayCar and buy cables from there. A lot cheaper than buying a wiring kit and you'll end up with 4 gauge for the same price if not cheaper.

i was checking out jaycar and the 4 gauge +fuse +holder +crimps is the same price as a kit (50-60$)

if i go 8 gauge its about $30

i think im going to go with the 8gauge and just monitor it for a while if it heats up or blows a fuse them ill upgrade
