Just had my 3000k Service this morning
You probably meant 30,000 k service? Have me worry if I have missed mine scheduled services as I have done 6,000 and next service is at 15,000. It is one of the reasons that I always go back to the dealer for its capped price scheduled services, so they can do whatever "updates" at the same time.

16SSWAG, Does the steering assistance return after a simple engine restart/reboot? If so, that seems consistent with this issue.

Here are other US GM documents about this EPS fretting issue with exported Commodores 2014-2016.

You probably don't have a PDF reader. Just download Primo PDF it's free. Or Adobe reader (yuck) if you must.

yes but I'm told no recall as yet as the fault is mostly pronounced on the USA cars. They are yet to respond to my detailed written request for the explanation over why not. I assume they are taking the punt that most claims will come in post 2017 after the 3yr warranty runs out. I'll advise when I get something from their engineers.

Well had my car serviced yesterday and they tried to relearn the steering sensor on my car to see if the problem would go away but it didn't. The service tech seems to think my car isn't effected and claims my car has the new plugs already. Asked them in written email to see what the next step is, as the steering if really starting to p me off. Had been going back and forth with them for the last 6 months, getting ridiculous!

Holden VF Commodore: Loss of Power Steering Assistance

In Holden VF Commodore vehicles, there have been reports of a loss of power steering assistance, which may or may not be preceded by a warning to service the power steering. Furthermore, power steering assistance may return when the vehicle is restarted.

In February 2015, Holden initiated a customer service campaign (Campaign No: A 140804-ZCS P) for the loss of power steering assistance. It is understood that the loss of steering assistance was caused by water damage to the electrical connector on the power steering motor. If water damage had occurred, the connector would be replaced. If not, the connector would be filled with conductive grease and re-connected to the power steering motor.
