got a problem with the Stato not changing gears properly. Checked the fault codes and got :-
Code 66 3-2 shift control solenoid circuit fault
Code 67 Torque Convertor Clutch on/off solenoid circuit
Code 81 2-3 Shift solenoid "B" fault (what the hell is a "B" fault?)

Any ideas where to start looking for the problem?
Could it just be a computer problem that needs resetting?
Could it be a dirty connector not letting signals thru?

Just clutching at straws I guess.

Putting in reverse the car rolls backwards normally,
put in drive and it feels like the handbrake is partly on, it doesn't seem to roll freely forward, and yes I've checked all wheels are free rolling by jacking individually.

Any help guys??

The fluid should be nice reddish colour. If its looks quite dark then it needs a service.

Yep fluid levels are ok, and fluid is only just off red colour. Trans service was done 11 months ago, I guess I should do it again first and see what happens from there.

Was just hoping someone had had the same problem and had the straight up answer,

Thanks anyway guys

If you've done over 200KM then expect to need a reco unfortunately.
Didn't think the VS 4L60E trans fitted the VR???

It's done about 270K, but had another trans fitted just before I bought it so don't know how many k's on it.

Another thread somewhere mentiond VR's had a 12 pin plug and VS had 13 pin plug. I think it said a VS in a VR didn't change properly because of the extra pin, but cant be sure. I'm hoping mine doesn't come to changing the trans, dont NEED that at this time of year.

check the fuses, all the faults youhave can be contributed to a fuse blown.

the reason it feels like the handbrake is on is that it because of the shift solenoid faults it is taking off in third gear, normal limp mode when something faults.

Thanks Dr Bob, just got in from playing with it. Wish I had read that before I started working on it this morning.

Did a service, and flush, Tested the solenoids were within specs, then reset the computer. Still got the fault codes. Went back to the book and got to thinking what would happen if the plug was disconnected or no power and it come up as being stuck in 3rd. Then got to thinking what the missus had said her brother had said to check the fuses. Guess what?? Fuse 12 was dicky, was wondering why the power steering varitronic system wasn't working either. DOH!!!!
Shoulda checked the fuses first, not think the worst, like buggered solenoids.

Well should be right for another 12 months now anyway.
