can someone tell me what causes an auto trans to slip? mine slips gong from 2nd into 3rd around corners and when im driving straight, uphill especially and revs out sometimes as high as 3500rpm's then goes into gear...its very annoying. any info would be much appreciated.

could just be fluid level as stated above, or a shift solenoid may need replacing.

fluid condition also, if it's old and there is lots of air bubles in it when it gets warm then it can loose it's holding presure. may need a good service or a rebuild worse case

got a rebuild upgraded with shift kit kevlar bands and other things for $2600
but your transmission sounds like it is low on fluid especially if it mainly slips around corners or up hill ( same happened to me, blown hose). Service only cost about $130.

$1600 for my recon. Being a little bit cheaper, they may have skipped a few of the not so important details.
