2008 VE Commodore 5sp
Hi... I have z 2008 VE commodore 5sp... There has been no clunks or noises from the transmission . Smooth change... However the other day.. I went into a shop.. went to start it... nothing.. looked and saw that it was indicating it was in Drive... Stick shifts moves freely... but will just not shift out of Drive... Anyone have any idea?

most likely transmission dead but I'm no mechanic

With zero diagnosis that escalated pretty quickly.

Transmission select/range/position/mode sensor (the thing that identifies which gear is selected with the shifter) is probably dead or off position. Also possible that the park/neutral safety switch could be dead.
