2008 Commodore VE V6 3.6L Auto
Hi all, Ive got a Commodore VE 2008 with a 5sp Auto 5L40E M82 Gearbox,

Trying to change the filter, magnet and gasket for the transmission so i tried to open the filler plug on the side. Bloody thing wont come out and is stuck, I've been lying under the car for hours just to unstick this thing, my face is full of WD-40, sweat and fury.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to open it? I've basically mangled the **** out of the bolt head, i was considering welding but not sure which material to use depending on the bolt material (im guessing stainless).

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

Photo of the bolt in question ?

Normally they are just tensioned up,
Possibly loctited in, which is very unusual.
Not sure applying heat would be a good thing.

You need a torx bit for that one, a bit that fits on a ratchet is your best bet.

Had the same issue on the boys BMW, not because it was tight but because the exhaust pipe ran right next to it not leaving enough room for the bit + ratchet.

Looks like a T30/T40 sized bit?

Use the proper tool not an Allen key. Why Holden would use a fitting like that is beyond me. Probably to remind you that the tranny is filled for life LOLOLOL and you need special qualifications to break the seal.

Plenty of Torx fasteners on the VF, Holden even supply a T15 bit in the spare wheel kit to remove the front wheel well liners to change headlight bulbs.

I've seen the screws in the front liners. Now I have to go check the spare wheel well for the tool kit.
