I’m not asking for an answer of what it is for sure, just an idea of what you think it could be, and if it sounds like a blown cat.
Is there just you & the boss?
If there are other mechanics that are ther, are you able to ask them?

Pay one $20.00 for 1 minute of their time?

Pull the cat off and have a look at it. You will soon know if it's buggered.
Yeah that’s the plan I had in my head, when I had them pulled off on Sunday there wasn’t anything that stood out, but I didn’t check them properly either. Just didn’t cross my mind, it almost sounds like it’s at the resonator, so maybe bits of the cat fell in there.

Nah there’s about 10 of us, and they don’t want money there happy to help but it’s just about finding the right time because we’re always busy. I’ll ask them on Friday arvo, and see if I can maybe get it on the hoist

If l read the thread ok, as l understand it, they are aftermarket cats?
Yeah but presumably they are still bolted on with flanges. Soon see if they are buggered once they are off the vehicle.

Has the tune been adjusted to allow for them?
yeah I got a tune ages ago when I had the exhaust an a few other things, and then I got another quick cheap tune when I did the cams and timing chain, but I had an exhaust leak when that tune got done, it was just a tune to make the car drivable, and the bloke who did it has never done a cammed alloytec so he was just mucking around. Once I sealed the exhaust the car feels heaps different, worse and better. Hard to explain though. Would be from tuning it with an exhaust leak though

I was just thinking maybe swapping around the bad post cat 02 sensors with the good pre cat 02 sensors may have something to do with the car having a different feel, it dosent sound cammed anymore either, alloytec cams are complicated. It still moves the revs slightly on idle like it did before, but without that cammed sound. Sorry if this makes no sense. But the pre cat 02 sensors may be more important and may have more control over the engine then the post cat ones, hence why it feels and acts different now.
