+1 for Masonite.

I use it also. 3mm (probably 3.2) special order from Bunnings.

masonite only comes in 4.8mm from bunnings. does it comes thinner from anywhere else?

Sadly, and because of the advertising, everyone thinks Bunnings, whereas the local Hardware/Builders Supplies often carry items that you would not expect, AND in commercial quantities and sizes.

e.g For curiosity I just phoned a small Hardware I used to deal with in Sandgate on Brisbanes bayside and they still have 3 sheets of 3.2mm Masonite 2400x1200 at $34.37 retail price which is the same stuff I used in the 1960's.

Correct me if I am wrong but you would just about get 4 door trims from a 2400x1200 sheet for that price as opposed to 4x$20 something at the bigger outlets.

As for fabric, depending on what you need.
Vinyl from Clark Rubber, as well as others, if you can afford their prices, also your local trimmer.

Almost makes one wonder if they are using the same old bait and switch that the car yards use.

Bait you with a good price and then tell you they only have the smaller variety at a higher price.

nah, Bunnings probably get it on order if not a big seller - also if it's anything like Brisbane there are several within driving distance of each other, maybe ring around or order it in ari?

I suggested the CORFLUTE earlier on, and can assure you it's plenty strong enough for the job.

I noticed MASONITE was mentioned, and I believe that's what was in the Californian before I replaced it with the COREFLUTE. It had all broken up and was all crumbly. AT that stage as the the car was a 1954 model that made it under 30 years old.........But that might do you??????
