Whilst a car running 19" or 20" tyres might look good hard parked, living with them on a daily is something else

My VE with 20s is a nicer ride that my old VS with 18s.

Opinions do vary.

Will the next big trend be black and white TV ?
Wanna go in with me halvsies in a business where we pick up busted TV's which no longer switch on & resell them at a premium over new price as Black Edition?

Indeed

imo 20's look nicer but its a pretty harsh ride with lowered springs - at least on country WA roads anyway

Mine is factory FE3.
In that case ... our VF1 FE3 (same as yours I think?) on stock 19's is a tad too firm for Sydney suburban roads.

It's not uncomfortable physically, but it's a Commodore ... if it can accumulate rattles & creaks it's gonna accumulate rattles & creaks ... every thump through I'm imagining the rattle that's going to cause &/or the dent in the wheel ...

Colour coded rims can also be an option worth thinking about. I did it with my Merc and I'm happy with the look, it sure beats the dark grey rims that came from the factory. I also fitted 20 inch rims which everyone told me would look shithouse on a C Class, but I beg to differ.

I ordered my Ute with the black HF-20 option because of the long-term value factory fitted options like that can have when the car becomes a classic, but never liked them even when I was placing the order. I find black rims suits some colours and with others it can detracted from the overall appearance. I ordered the Vossens a couple of months before the Ute arrived with that in mind as the darker red on my Ute looks dirty with black rims where the silver pops the colour, or at least that's my personal taste.

I'm also one of those people that doesn't care about ride comfort in my cars, I go with a size I feel suits the look of the car.

If it's a 70's classic it's 14 or 15 inch rims and none of that big stuff you see on some show cars, if it's a modern car with a set of brakes that need to be shown off then I'll go big but not 22's as that doesn't suit a VE/VF commodore in my books, they're for Supercars and big Utes.

If I ever get to a stage where I'm in a position where I have to buy a car with ride comfort in mind, I'd buy a Camry, sit in the back seat and cut my wrists.

I personally don't really like black rims....I prefer another colour so you have the break up of colour between the tyre and the rim

The same applies to rim colour vs car colour....Not a big fan of same colour rims as the car....

And yes everyones taste is different....That's what makes the world go round

You say best rims but you don't really specify what kind of best your looking for whether it's best handling, best looking or best ride......theres no magic formula that ticks all those boxes in my opinion.

My rule of thumb:
* Best for comfort - 15/16"
* Best for handling - 17-19"
* Best looking (on a VE/VF) - 20"

I've got factory 19's on my VE and 16's on my VR, the road comfort characteristics of the VR even with far older lowered suspension/chassis is 10x nicer.

The less sidewall you have the rougher the ride will be......not to mention I've had to have my 19's repaired 3 times because of Australian road quality.
