i always look for a rubber washer, not 2.
also the outer casing was very soft when I drove a screw driver thru it, suggesting risk of holes caused by rocks thrown up from below. a bad oil filter could wreck an engine

google "ryco oil filter problems" and be prepared for a long read

go one better and google *insert product here* problems. The internet is full of problems around everything known to man.

Ryco aren't primo but they aren't avoidworthy.

must go for 99% of all branded oil filters,Ii've always found it very easy to put a screw driver through any oil filter to aid in removal when some numnut decided it needed to be done up to a point that there was no other removal method, oil filter removers simply crushed the filters without budging them.

vs commodore
Ive used ryco filters for the last 20 or so years, and have never had a problem with them. I now use genuine holden filters purchased from the local holden dealer because theyre cheaper than ryco. eg- $8 for a genuine oil filter, $14 for a ryco oil filter.

Tried Ryco filters on two cars (VS and VY), I didn't like them. They always tend to have a small leak for me, while the GM ones don't. And I had significantly more lifter noise on the VY which went away after changing to a GM oil filter.

I remember somebody linked an article to a guy who took apart a Ryco oil filter from China and found that the filtering material was poorly designed. It effectively filtered it "too much" and dropped oil pressure.
