:yeah::yeah::yeah:I am planning to buy a really nice set of rims for my VF CalaisV. I am not sure what size rims/tyres would fit on the car without affecting my drivability. If anyone could shed some light on the sizes of rims to choose for front and rear it would be great. I prefer to have staggered wider rear wheels because i think it looks better with a large sedan.

Thanks in advance for any info.:idea3:

22's with bugger all rubber and a harsh ride, or
The sweet spot seems to be 20's with a 245/40/20 and 275/35/20 tyre for staggered 8.5" and 9.5" wide rim.
I've seen 305 wide tyre on a 11" rim for max rear wheel width. Couldn't comment on ride quality though.

I've got a real nice set of Vossens on mine. 20" rims, 9" front 10" rear (I know a few other guys with the 10.5" rear) 255/35 front and 275/35 rears (continentals off the HSV'S)... Looks **** hot, rides nice

With those 20 inch tyre sizes you'll need to have the speedo recalibrated. The VE HSV fitment has heaps of tyre choice and is bang on to match the original rolling diameter (on the Calais and SS) at 245/35/20 and 275/30/20. Doesn't seem harsh on my VF ute.

Used an online tyre calculation for rolling diameter. Speedo is only 3km/h (at 100km/hr) out from my standard sv6 set up. Which has actually made it more accurate considering that when tested using a gps the speedo was 3mk/hr slower than actual. Spot on now...

yea, thanks for quick replies guys. Wateva homework I did tells me to stick with 20's and enjoy the ride. I have decided 20's. I would go 9" in front and 10" rear with the tyres you have suggested. Should I be worried about the rear 10" wide wheels later? Because I have plans to lower the car on some coilovers as a next project. I am trying to source a nice pair of 20" Forgiato rims from US. (like in the pic).

10" rear is fine. Offset is the important one. Mine are +45 on the rear and +35 front. Preferably I would have gone the lower profile rear tyre to avoid the little but of scrubbing I get at the rear of the guard, but I wanted to keep it legal with the load rating. Mine is lowered on coilovers too, just haven't gone too low. I've rolled the guards also. Not hard to get done so don't let that worry you.

Soon to be Blown VF Redline
Don't mean to hijack the thread but I've got 20 by 8 HSVi rims on my redline but still want the staggered tyre setup, what's the widest tyre that can go on an 8in rims?
