It's a black wire with yellow trace from a loom bundle that someone cut...

Honestly, we are going to need more info or you won't get a reasonable answer.

Model/engine, where the harness comes from etc.

It's part of the horn circuit with 12v.
I hate to think what has happened to that harness for it to have been cut. Stereo installs should no longer need to be cut anymore. Plug in adaptor harnesses and its all tidy.

It goes via clock spring, BCM, Horn, overall horn circuit.

He says the wire comes from h/u to behind the glovebox?

Yeah it does then through the firewall to the bonnet

I happened to be looking at VY manual (re rear sway bar link on one tonner)

So pulled the wiring diagram up for the radio. Three links from the menu. Black with yellow is horn circuit.

Ok thanks mate all the wires are hooked up correctly but won't hold memory any chance you know why
