Hi all, just want your thoughts on the holden services at a holden dealer, today i got a txt saying your ute is booked in for 75k service, which i decided to phone them and ask what is involved in the 75k service and how much, was told it is change the oil filter and engine oil and that will be
$299 i then asked them how much the 30k service is and whats involved in that ,and it was the same thing oil filter and engine oil and that was $239 now up in till now i have had all my schedule services while my car was under warranty to there schedule, which never matched up to my kilometres anyway ,but i never really worried about it till now as it is now out of warranty, but heres the kicker my car has only done 23,000 ks , i asked the bloke at Holden if you are doing the same job as the 30k service why is it dearer ,which he then explained thats Holdens standard pricing and there is nothing he can do about it , i told him if he did it for the $239 i might consider doing it at Holden but no he declined so i cancelled my booking, So not being mechanically minded and i dont really have a mechanic mate, what should a oil filter and engine oil change cost?????

My scheduled services (flush, oil change and filter) is $279 at an independent service centre that I have been sticking with since 2002. Holden did not complete a scheduled service correctly on the VZ Executive wagon in 2012, and also did not secure the radiator cowling with the scrivets (no idea why the fascia was even removed when all they were replacing at the time was the PCV hose!). I complained, sitting right there in front of the Service Manager, and he then charged me for replacement scrivets (long story short, I had plenty to say about that, and took my car and my money elsewhere!). Shop around. I'm confident you could get better pricing without being gouged.

Have you looked in the service book, to see what actually gets done at the 75k km service?
There's a checklist.
The majority of the cost is going to be labour, IMHO.

Just checked and you are right. Different cost for the same job. No idea why. You will find that independent mechanics will charge about $250 for that

In terms of what it really should costs ... it' about $100 for good oil oil $25 for oil filter and a few bucks for drain plug washer... + 1/2 labour... which generaly about $100 ish per hour...

Yeah I checked up on what Forg said and looked at my service booklet and all the services are the same right up to 135k km can’t understand why the price would go up for the same service I assume the price will go up from there ,,,,,

Holden’s website had detailed information as to what was checked at each service interval. Even though oil and oil filter is changed at every service, different things get checked at different intervals hence a difference in price after 45 months or 75,000kms

https://www.holden.com.au/content/d...ervice-overview/02-pdfs/holden-priceguide.pdf

The fact the dealer couldn’t explain what the difference was between the things they check @ 30k and at 75k services doesn’t bode well to them actually doing what needs to be done...

But since we all got the middle finger, Holden gutted their web site and lots of previously accessible info seems to have gone the way of the dodo which isn’t good for any owner.

Being that your ute is out of factory warranty, I’d be looking for a 3rd party specialist that can service these machines according to manufacturers schedule or better...

I think the 'capped price servicing' finished at 60k.

Leave a camera filming a holden dealer doing a service and you will see most of them change the oil and filter and push the vehicle out spending as little time as possible on it to get the next one in to maximise the profits.

Services are time related as well as Km based. Thats why they are telling you its a 75k not 30k service. Some people can get really defensive and argue “But i haven’t reached the Kms yet!” Normal response I give is "Yes dear your right. You have not reached the Kms on the service interval. Thats why theres a time interval."
If it's the exact same work being done and its more expensive. Thats a rip.

Early 2020 I had one dealer emailing me saying the car was due for what ever time equals a 150,000km service. Then another dealer sent me a text saying my appointment was confirmed for what ever day they decided I would be there. I let that day pass without “clicking here” to cancel.

The car was mid interval from my actual mechanic that does the services every 9 months. And the car only has 104000 kms on it.
