Can anyone recommend a car audio mob that can activate my Series II IQ rear fader and wire in my rear 6x9s in Melb?

Oh, it turns out that the IQ head units in sedans and utes are the same with the utes fader being disabled in the security settings.
One Holden dealer service manager tells me that as the IQ unit is configured to the VIN and the VIN contains details that its a ute they could not enable this feature.

This was also the case for VY's and phreddy from ASR (forum sponsor) used to enable the rear channels in utes all the time.

I'm sure he could also do it for the VE.

He's in Sydney though...

In Melbourne, I'd try No Limit Electronics. They changed the display on my Series I VE headunit from red to blue, so I'd say they could help you out...

Series 1 is easy. The option is right there in the service menu.

I suspect it was also in the service menu on the VY/VZ Blaupunkt units too.

Being Windows CE based, It's entirely possible the Series 2 units can only be changed with a Tech2 or MDI - Unfortunately, none of the people reverse engineering the Series 1 units have Series 2 units to play with... At least not until the price of a secondhand one drops significantly.

I know this is for Series I head units, but I was hoping that it would be something very similar for Series II models...
(Heres Hoping anyway)....

To enter the audio service mode,
1) Turn the ignition to the Accessories Position.
2) Turn the audio system off by pressing the volume button.
3) Press and hold the Right Disc Change Button.
4) Whilst holding the above button, press and hold the Right Track Change Button.
5) Whilst holding the above buttons, press and hold the audio system on button.
6) Keep the above buttons depressed for 12 seconds.
7) The Audio Service Menu will appear.

From here you can select between 2, and 4/5 Channels...
I hope this works for VEII ?????

Awesome info, thanks once again ms_enj and Zerone.

So does the above also allow you to change display colour? (Series 1 at least?)

Unfortunately not...
The only really useful stuff in the above hidden menu is enabling speakers, and enabling / disabling the dual (rear window) antenna fitted to calais models..

The display colour (Red for SSV and HSV, Blue for Calais, Statesman and Caprice) is changed via programming the main unit EEPROM.
We also know how to change the startup screens from Holden, to Holden Caprice, HSV, Chevrolet, and for newer headunits Pontiac and VXR8 (Vauxhall), which also uses the EEPROM programming method.

The biggest problem with the EEPROM programming method is that it is a head unit out and take apart (Slightly) job at the moment.
I am sure we could program the above features via OBD connector using the 29Bit Can bus, but this is going to be a long way away.
(We haven't worked out how to write to modules yet using the 29Bit GM Lan)...

Ok, cool.
Yeah that makes sense, because I had to take my h/u out and ship it to No Limit Electronics in Melbourne in order to get the display colour changed.
(I see you're Sydney based. If you were around back then, you could have probably done it for me lol - oh well...)
