Change lifter

Hey guys I have either a lifter tick or a broken rocker arm, just wandering if anyone has changed them before, and whether I need to take the cams and timing chains out to replace them, or can I just rotate the crank and change them out when each cam lobe is in the upwards position?
I'm also running mace 210 cams if that helps any.
