Chrome internal trim - glare prevention

What about using wet and dry paper or just a scouring pad.
Carefully skuff the chrome and make it a dull silver stainless look.
No reflection!

I can send you diagrams but I did on my own as they dont show how to take off small pieces from radio. Some of them you cannot take off so you need to mask it. Btw look at my garage you will see on what I mean.
When I get home will send u pm with all info.

Are you meaning the two strips either side of the shifter, or the shifter surround itself.

The surround lifts straight upwards, start at one point and work your way around. The two strips pull up and back towards you. I have the diagram for that section. PM me your email address if you need it.

can I see the diagram of the centre console coming apart please?

Just had a quick look at the workshop manual download.
It shows the trim and where the clips are making it much easier to know where to put the trim removal tools.

= The silver trim each side of the gear stick just pops out starting at the top using a credit card or flat trim removal tools.
= The silver drink holder trim just pops out working around the edge using a credit card or flat trim removal tools.
= The vent trim surround is held in by 12 screws from behind and through the center air outlet assembly so the whole assembly has to come out to get at the trim screws. To do that it looks like you need to take off the wide trim strip both sides of the hazard switch lift from the bottom of the center air outlet assembly, working around the edges and up the sides. You will need to disconnect 3 plugs.

Not sure I am keen to go quite that far on a brand new car but I am sure I will change my mind after a few doses of silver trim blindness.

Was the chrome trim being referred to the same on the series 1 and series 2 vehicles?

Now you've mangled that much chrome trim, why stop there? Don't forget the trim around the inner instrument gauges, the chrome body trim that blinds and buggers other road users, and the chrome badgework...
