I has no end of trouble with VXDIAG - in the end received a full refund as it simply did not function - spend hours on the phone with the tech trying to get it to read.

Commodores!
Are you running Tech2Win?
Yeh I am runnning all the included programs - tech2win opens and runs but only reads ECU and TCU.
If i try and read anything body module related it says no comms - although i did have it reading the instrument cluster of a 2012 VE.
Its almost like the decoding by the interface isn't complete.
I did find on Tech2wiki some additional .md files so might try downloading those and trying to have tech2win run them maybe.

Unfortunately tis2web will be retired starting mid July 2021 for USA and Candea. It’s to be replaced by TechLine Connect.

See https://gm-techlink.com/?p=14596

What this means for the vxdiag nano going forward i don’t know

So when using vxdiag nano, is Tis2Web actually needed for anything when playing with ones VF’s?

Only if you want to program something, it still should work fine as a diagnostic tool.

But isnt/wasn’t programing one of the strengths of the vxdiag nano that you could do such and thus didn’t need to visit a stealership

Fcuken GM (for removing Tis2Web)

You're probably right, I considered the Nano, but would also need a laptop to go with it.
After reading all about setting up the Nano, I thought it was way beyond my computer skills...
I ended up buying a Vident ilink400au for GDS2 VF's(haven't tried it on the VE's yet).

How'd your Tech 2 turn out?
Are you able to post the link?
Sorry, delayed response. Haven't been around much lately...
It did exactly what I needed at the time, but I haven't used it since.
Overall, I'm happy with it. This (click link) is what/where I bought from.

vxdiag is ok for some functions, but tis2web and abs/airbag functions will not work because the vxdiag does not have the GM Uart pin9 populated which is needed for these functions pre 2007(ish)

I use a mdi2 cloan and it works great, everything works, was able to flash calibration updates etc. well worth the investment if you plan on doing advanced stuff yourself it pays itself pretty quick.

Just as a matter of interest, what do you mean by "populated".

More interestingly, what protocol are missing on VXDIAG which won’t allow it to be used on pre 2007 Holdens?

Here is a pin out of OBD2 connector with its various protocol flavours
