VS Wagon
Over the past 6 weeks I've put standard springs in my VS wagon, replaced the link pins in the front, had a wheel alignment, then replaced the front rotors. All seemed ok, but now when I reverse out of a driveway, put the car in drive and turn the wheel, there is a clunking sound in the front end. Always seems to be a result of changing from going back to going forward and always involves turning. I jacked the car up and had a look and couldn't see anything obvious.

Any ideas? I'm wondering if I've disturbed something along the way....

get somone to stand next to the front wheel as you put it in drive and then into reverse with your foot on th brake.... if the wheel moves forwards then the castor rod bushes need to be replaced

I had the same issue, turned out to be stuffed swaybar link bushes. But the castor bushes also sound a likely culprit.

I had new front lower control arm inner bushes fitted and also front and rear radius rod bushes. Had my mechanic do it and all up cost me $325. I then had to get a wheel alignment. All sorted now though.
