If I was looking for a cheap daily to neglect and drive my 700km per week routes then I would go a low KM VY..........very cheap to run (from a maintenance perspective) and the engine can easily be worked on from home with basic tools.

The Alloytec while a good motor I have found some of the early ones to have some issues (e.g timing chains, rattles etc)..........and the fact that so much has to come off the car to just get access to the spark plugs and the motor has to come out just to change a thermostat is a terrible design in my books..... (I only buy pushrod motors, i'm a bit stuck in my ways)

The other thing I like about the VY is if I kill an engine it's only $400 odd to get another engine and about 3 hours to swap it over.....

But the alloytec is more efficient and powerful.
