I might even try finding a decent second hand stalk at the wreckers and see if it works

Common problem the whole stalk moves each time the indicators are used putting pressure on the Cruise harness/contacts eventually they break & cruise fails.
New stalk will fix the problem.

Look like most of you I thought I could live with the intermittent working and not working but as I use the CC every time I go up the Pacific Hwy to visit my daughter and her family it becomes frustrating turning it off/on and wiggling just hoping the next time it will activate.
Save your selves the frustration and just buy a new stalk.

I think I have the same problem.
This only started to happen once I put new driveshafts in though, I didnt hit the sensor there, and its all clean too

I cant remember as I rarely drive car... but does the dash say the cruise is "on", once you press the button. Then "engaged" when you twist the stalk down?
