Yeah this bloke, possibly the best in the business.
Just saw this reply now. Must have come through as I typed my previous reply.

I just sent them an enquiry, will see what he comes back with!

Having a bit of a hard time researching which pans and filters are suitable. It seems the pan and filter kit to suit Camaro from Pace Performance is the simplest option. But where can future filters go suit be sourced from?.

I believe ppl just get them from supercheap? its standard in the hsv?

Ok so a bit more research on these pans and filters.

Sureshift as recommended by Monstar sells the standard Camaro pan and filter on eBay for $345 delivered which they claim adds around 1L capacity over standard VE 6l80.

Also available on eBay is the B&M pan, which is alloy and finned for strength and cooling.
B&M claims this pan adds 1.8qt (1.7L) over stock CAMARO pan, so it seems like 2.7L over stock VE pan. These sell from $375 on eBay

After reading the installation PDF on the B&M site, they recommend using a new filter of gm part number 24236931, which appears to be standard Camaro filter.

I’m really unsure as to which way to go now. The B&M unit looks great and not THAT much dearer than the sureshift Camaro pan. However, the Camaro pan is much cheaper if getting direct from the states.

If you’re sure about the B&M (there are others) then yeah either Camaro (6l80 normal) filter else the 6L90 widemouth, which is available from various AU parts people.
I think both are deeper than the (6L80 short) in our stock pan.

Sorry to keep bombarding you with questions! Haha

2 more then I’m really done ok!

Does the filter need to touch the bottom of the pan? Or is that not necessary?

Is it possible the B&M could be too much capacity and keep the oil too cool and not allow it to warm up enough? I monitored my trans temps last night on a 100km journey, the max temp reached during hilly sections was 84c then on level ground and very easy cruising it dropped to around 75, even as low as 70c right at the end of the 100km.

90% of my driving is this journey as it’s my work route.

I do recall towing my caravan on a hot day and trans temps were 100+ I believe 106c was maybe the maximum it reached while hill climbing. I hardly ever tow the caravan though.

@mike_nofx it depends if you want to keep it or sell it. Heat is managed by the controller, will work better with more fluid and less chance of cooking it.
That’s what it’s about, proper operation, longevity and reduced risk of starvation or cooking the fluid.
I’d definitely get the bigger than Camaro pan, because I know it extends the life of the trans.

I do plan to keep it. The Falcon wagon I previously had that this replaced had 380k on it.

My SS has 180k on it now. Another 200k on it would be nice!

The Gen IV V8 A6 (MYC) deep pan mod uses the larger (MYD) pan from a Camaro SS.
The part number on the deeper pickup/filter is 24236517, being the "wide mouth" filter from the 6L90 of a Cadillac CTS-V. Part number number for the filter kit (comes with a seal) is 24236933 and note it is quite different to the Camaro / Holden one, as compared in the bottom picture of the first post above.
I have two Camaro SS pans and CTS-V wide mouth pickups ad part of deep pan kits (gaskets, seals, etc) arriving next week. Cost just $130 each, one spare available, PM me if you want to beef up / cool down your box.

I'm assuming PIR4TE is now Monstar?

searching for the filter part number on ebay returns this result:
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TRANSMI...483054?hash=item1edd84be2e:g:KyoAAOSwTM5YuM1w

It should be the right filter for the deep pan I take it? same as Holden Colorado. Would be handy, and very cheap.

I called Repco for a price for a HSV filter.... $139, wtf??

That other bloke went mad, had to shoot him  (ixnay on la hombré - less said the better).
I wouldn’t pay more than $100 for it, but versus say spend on brake rotors or fancy pad compound this thing guards against damage to $5000 component. Only done every 50-60k km.
Yeah anything HSV is priced to make a Holden owner chuckle :p
