A long, long time ago!
Heres a good bit of advice, when the rock lobsters ask
1. raise your hand if you have had enough, I suggest not raising it
2. Ask if you have had enough I suggest saying no.
Saying or doing opposite to this generally results in pain.
It shows my age, but I was at Portsea a month after Harry Holt went on the eternal swim.
It was about 2:00am, and we were on the beach under the "Hill". The question was, "Are you hot". Answer "no". Response, "Well, you are not working hard enough. Run up the hill, and back again."
Get back to the same question. I'm not dumb, don't make the same mistake twice, answer "Yes". Response, "Well we don't like people who think they are better than others. Run up the hill, and back again".
Time merged after that, but I think I traversed the "Hill" about six times that night, as well as other "advanced training activities".
In those days, there was no right answer. Just suffer the pain.
Things are different now, so you might be able to come up with an answer to avoid the pain. Back then, the initiation process got you no matter how smart or smart-a**e you were!
PS. Anyone else suffered on the "Hill"?
