1993 vp v6 ss manual
gday guys, I have a vs v6 man and want to put 4.11 diff gears in it. just want to know where I could buy them keeping in mind I am in Townsville and will need shipping. I am aware of the down sides but I am using it for dirt racing and hill climbs, mainly 1st and 2nd gear for the dirt and cant get out of 2nd at the hill climb.
cheers muz

Summit Racing should stock them.

Ebay or a local diff shop would be your best bet.

Summit Racing should stock them.

Nope, only for the later models with M80

What diff gears are in it at the present? I might be in the market for a set of lower ratio gears at some stage. I assume you're running a BW? Rockauto might have them. Only thing is you'd need to know what GM vehicle used the same diff as they don't have a listing for Holden.

Wow diff gears are exi for the BW. Last 4.1s i bought were under $300 and went into a Dana. Nearly $800 for 3.45. I won't be going lower ratio if that's the cost for the gears alone.

Yes, new gears are but try and find a 2nd hand set which will be much cheaper. 3.45 gears were common as in the VL models.

Also beware that although the VN-VS diff is commonly called an M78 it is a bit of a misnomer, pull any VN-VS diff apart and check the gear set and it will be stamped 0575 which means it's a M75 gear set and although they bolt on the same regardless of the carrier (m75 and m78) the pinion is different which is mentioned in the link above in the fine print on the side that the pinion and/or housing may need grinding to make it fit. As far as I'm aware only HSV used a true M78 in some limited models of that era.

Live axle or irs? If irs I’d be looking at an m80 conversion. Complete centres come up for $300-400 from time to time.

Did all VLs have 3.45s or only disc brake models?
