I have partly known this but I'm just reading this now that a VF SS Series 1 6L engine with a L77 AFM Auto is rated at 260Kw but the same car with a L77 and in manual is rated at 270Kw. What give guys? What did they do to kill 10Kw in the Auto version.

AFM with a different cam....
Must have been a reason for this lower Kw's in the Auto. Didn't the auto also have the AFM rear mufflers (The "Y" type ends) or did the manual also have the same rear "Y" mufflers.

AFM with a different cam....

AFM hardware and the same camshaft is present between both versions.

The difference is in the tune and the auto has a more restrictive exhaust (to utilise the AFM).

camshafts have different part numbers.... AFM v Manual
and the timing in the tune is different because of that (exhausts are the same part numbers)

Interest info guys. I bet a few that purchased the auto and at a later date found out it had the same Kw's as a VZ CV8Z 5.7L (260Kw) would have been peed off.

^^^indeed - and I guess AFM was perhaps one of the reasons why the kw's didn't really increase in the 6.0L over the life of the VE

Or ... it was because HSV were struggling to get 325kW using the same measurement methodology? /foilhat

HSV ever get 325kw from the LS2 (6litre)? I thought they topped out at 317 or something.
Either way the LS2 block in comparison to the LS1 was not so much a leap as the difference from LS2 to LS3.
