Gday guys,
Recently replaced the dome light bulb and interior fuse, works well but doesn't switch off when doors are closed and the switch is on the door position. Is there a time delay between the doors closing and the light turning off or should it be instant? Cheers guys

Id imagine its supposed to turn light off instantly when door closes . Could be tricky trying to find out why its not turning off with the doors closed as pushing the door buttons in wont achieve much if its staying on already, Id start at the drivers door or dome light switch button ,somethings not breaking or changing the circuit. Im not sure if the bonnet or boot buttons activate the interior light...Someone else here might be able to guide you as to where to start...

I don`t know if you model car has the timer delay on the dome light or not but if it does
will only make it harder to find
it has to be a either a door switch or the switch in the dome light
you might have to remove all the door switches and remove them from the car bodysa earth by removing the screw
and see if the light goes out with all doors open if not. it is the Dome light switch if the dome light switch is ok and is off
then that works then reconnect the doors switches one by one wait 5 mins to see it it turns off if it goes back on with that door closed
you have hopefully found it
good luck

My VX SS has a delay and eventually goes off after closing the door, or, when you turn the ignition it goes off instantly

VZ Crewman, VZ Cross 8, & ya mum.
Unscrew all the door switches.
Remove them. Cable tie the wire so the tail stops it going down the hole.

Go get a scotchbrite pad onto the copper surface on the back and on the little bit that contacts the screw head. Steel wool worth a go if you don’t have a scotchbrite pad, or even the non scratch pad from the kitchen would work with some elbow grease.

Clean off with isopropyl alcohol or metho or some contact cleaner.

Refit them.

Problem solved.

I have a VX Berlina and mine is on a 60 second delay. It's turns off by itself after that. I believe you can change it somehow, but I've never bothered.

The amount time delay is adjustable via the menu,

Also some scanners are able to adjust the delay time.

Back to OP's original question,

There is a few options mentioned above,
However, I was thinking, could this car have had wiring alterations?
Especially since you mentioned replacing the light bulb/s and a fuse, and the lights stay on (hmmm)
Its not an ex-Police Car by any chance ? (that you know of)

Possibly the PO did some wiring alterations?

nope, standard replacement. found out the car has about a 45 second delay before it switches off, which is weird because both my vz and vy turn off immediately which is why I thought I had an issue. Cheers for the suggestions tho guys I appreciate it.
