VS sedan and a VK DRGWGN
and to make it worse, he didn't even read the post that said that someone had them fitted to a car, which suggests to me that these tyres do actually exist.

Yes they do exist. I started the thread, and have now had them fitted since i 1st posted, or shortly after, and i've gotta say i'm still happy with them. :)
edit- well, it was in august last year i had them fitted, and they still work fine.

VT SS 5.7L Commodore.
It makes sense, as they get warm they expand, cold they contract. Sounds good.

wait wait... I did read that post! Actually they're called Goodyear Ducaro's. Whether they are good tyres or not, what I'm saying is this bubble stuff could just be marketing bull. There maybe other things about the tyre that make it perform well (like the rubber compound it made out of) Also, even if these tyres are ace, there's nothing to say other "non bubble" tyres are'nt even better than these Ducaro's. Having said all that perhaps these are a really big breakthough, but I doubt it.
