Engine flushes are a rip, people say they won't hurt that's because they do bugger all. Just make sure you change your engine oil on time (depends on individual driving conditions) and you should have no problems. If your engine only has 75k on it then it should be fine anyway unless its never had a change in its life.

There is always marketing hype vs reality like sport supplements! My vehicle was serviced regularly by its previous owner and I want to change the oil and filter every 5,000k's. I think a one off flush will be the way I go. Then I know what I am starting with and can rely on my care and maintenance going forward.

a very easy way to test your oil is get a analysis done when you do a change, they will test all aspects of the oil and even if your not interested in the stats they will tell you if you can leave your service interval longer or shorter and if there's any major contaminates in your oil, like coolant. there's many places around that do this, i personally use this one and found them great.

That way there's no guessing..

Guess what I will be doing this week? That's a great tip and seems well worth it. Good one! :)

All done now and I am glad that I did it. I used Liqui-Moly as the oil flush treatment and judging by the colour of the oil it did a great job. I took a sample of the engine oil before performing the flush and compared it afterwards and it was definitely darker. I now know my starting point and with 5,000kms oil changes I don't foresee having to do it very often. Thanks for all your input. Very helpful.

It would be good to have a look inside your engine to see if there's any sludge or crap built up first.
But you would have to remove a rocker cover at least to see anything, or stick a mini camera up the sump plug hole.
I've never bothered to use one...

Change the oil regularly - best form of 'oil flush' in my opinion!

I wouldn't use a purpose flush, as you could quite easily dislodge a piece of gunk which could block an oil gallery - then you'll be in all the strife about the place

I think in all honesty if you just put in good oil and shorten your service interval it's as good as an oil flush. Good quality oil should do the job of keeping your engine clean and after a few changes the any gunk should be gone. Sort of like putting premium in your car to make sure the fuel system is Clean.

Even if you just do it a few times because I think sometimes changing every 5000 can be a waste depending on your driving situation. Personally I would be throwing out good oil at 5000ks because I do allot of country Ks and my car spends allot of its life putting along at 1500rpm on the highway.

That's just my opinion.

If you want to do it for your own piece of mind though It probably won't hurt.
