Exhaust legal or not ?

i have an o8 ve sv6 ute and i removed the rear mufflers and put on a set of J pipes which are in the link below. they dont go over the legal noise limit but ive recently heard that taking the rear mufflers off is illegal. is there any truth to this ?

I didn't think jpipes would be under the db to be legal however if it is then all sweet. Do you have legal cats? Saying that depends on the policeman. Anything is defects me now adays

Anything with a straight pipe without a muffler mate will be loud and give off a loud as drone aswell. Plus its a easier way to get dicked so be careful if you decide to get this

Don't think it's legal, but as long as you don't drive like a wanker don't think the cops will give you a hard time? imo muffler deletes aren't really that loud

I have 'em fitted on my Redline ute, not very loud at all, and no drone.........

Went through a breath check the other night, and none of the coppers said anything.

jpipes are illegal. wayh around it is to weld hotdogs into them

Yes, as above, they are illegal. Not because of noise, but because you are changing the exhaust from the factory configuration. If the car had 4 mufflers from factory, it must have the same number in any aftermarket exhaust.

I have found that almost every exhaust is over the legal limit. The legal limit in Victoria isn't exactly loud? 90 something decibels if I'm correct?
At the end of the day, don't make your car excessively loud and you won't draw attention to yourself.
A nice note beats a loud over done exhaust any day of the week...
