Exhaust legal or not ?

i have an o8 ve sv6 ute and i removed the rear mufflers and put on a set of J pipes which are in the link below. they dont go over the legal noise limit but ive recently heard that taking the rear mufflers off is illegal. is there any truth to this ?

had them on my ss,not to loud but sounded shite!

You can modify your exhaust legally, but it still has to conform to the ADR's, IE: be pollution compliant, be under the noise limit, and retain the factory configuration.

Mate ive been looking at these pipes also, how loud did it make the ute and is there any drone, they say theses are drone free, I have ss rear mufflers and sound nice but not really loud and was looking for something a little better

it didn't make the Ute overly loud but i think i gives it a nice note under acceleration and ive only experienced a little bit of cabin drone a couple of times and it wasn't that noticeable. the local exhaust shop only charged me like $475, the quad tips only cost me $75 extra and only took about 20 minutes to fit.

Anything with a straight pipe without a muffler mate will be loud and give off a loud as drone aswell. Plus its a easier way to get dicked so be careful if you decide to get this

Depends what brand your using, I got Lukey straight through system no rear muffler & absolutely no drone ;-)

save the money and get a full system, you will be much happier, it will sound much nicer and you wont feel like upgrading when you realise what a proper exhaust sounds like.
