Hello all, Well i have a bit of exhaust problem. You see i've changed my 202 motor exhaust manifold to extractors (wildcats) and had a new exhaust system put in the car. I've got a 2 1/4 inch pipe straight to hotdog to straight through resonator to 2 1/2 inch dumpy.

The problem is, When i'm driving at around 60kpmh or basically any speed i keep the car constant at, the car has a massive amount of bass noise getting into the car. Now i'm guessing it maybe the dumpy. I'm thinking this because its sitting under the car rather then dumping further out from the car.

I want to keep the lumpy note but get rid of the massive amount of bass getting into the car.

So any suggestions on what it could be? Straight through resonator or dumpy?
How could i fix this problem?

cheers. :)

It's more then just drone.. It's bass drone. It travels right through the car. It still does have a somewhat lumpy note and sounds great at low rpms / idle etc. But once i start to put my foot down it just sounds horrid at i'm guessing around 3000rpm.

Whats even more annoying is that most of the bass noise is on the drivers front side of the car. Everywhere else it isn't so bad.

I use to have extractors straight back to a cannon on the back and that sounded pretty nice. The dump pipe I doubt would do anything to the sound.

well i spoke to the exhaust specialist that did the car (Richard at Rowville Exhausts) he basically said the problem would be the hotdog. So i'll probably get him to change it to something that will remove the bass drone at the higher revs.

Use a 8x4 straight through offset/centre glass packed muffler on it. Teamed up with the resonator on the rear it should give you a decent note without the drone.

Definitely go the glass pack muffler with a hotdog on the back, I would also run the exhaust out the back of the caras you might get some sorts of echo off the road causing some sort of drone noise as well.

cheers

well the exhaust thats on it is the one i just payed for. So i don't wanna be changing out the entire exhaust.
If the hotdog is whats making it have to much bass, then thats the only part i'll be changing. :)

something else I saw recently by someone else who had a new exhaust on their 202 was they had the hotdog first and the muffler last, It should be the other way around muffler first and hotdog last. The idea of the hotdog is to remove the crackles pops and subdue the drone.
Also make sure they put the hot dog on facing the right direction else it wont do anything.

cheers
Scott
