Extending fuel economy

i just tried my 1990 skyline auto straight 6 and got 420 klms out of 65 liter tank.... just taking it down to empty mark......... still trying my VX v6 auto... both are driven around town to work, do shopping...... maybe do 20 klms per day..... that was on 55 liters

Yea as I said b4 only 220 to a tank.

I used this STP petrol treatment, got 400!!! to a tank.

Nothing different, 91 octane fuel, relativley same driving conditions, same litres and everything.

I'm absolutley stoked about this but could someone explain the science behind that?

Not trying to promote that stuff but if your getting bad milage, maybe check it out.

Yes I realise i'm getting good mileage from the car (700km from 60l = 8.5l/100km) and i know the tank is 75 litres but I'm never game enough to keep running it down once the needle is right past empty. Therefore if i did use the whole 75 litres at the above consumption rate, i'd get about 880km between fuel stops.
Don't get me wrong, i'm not complaining about my consumption, in fact i'm very happy with it, but i was just wondering if there was anything else that could be done to improve an already good consumption rate.

you could get out and push it the other 300kms if that will make you happy

o2 sensors are about $130 each from holden i was quoted.
thats alot of money

work it out if u double ur fuel consumption.. makes it up after only a few tanks

This is exactly what I did:

First I used "Wynns Injector Cleaner"

Then: "Wynns Petrol Treatment"

Petrol Treatment

I degreased my engine ( not 4 fuel econ., just bored) and then used "STP Fuel Treatment", couldn't find the exact pic of bottle but looks like this:

The first two only improved milage by 10-15 km but the last one got me 400km.

I've only just finished the last step and havn't filled up full again so don't know if this is long term.

(P.s. Only put one in per full tank, I bought these at the servo when filling up)
