FE2 shocks

hi guys just wondering if FE2 front struts out of a vy SS and S are the same, as in are v8 and v6 strut/shocks different, I know the springs are different to compinsate for the weight but are the struts ?
Asking as I'm putting fe2 shocks in the front of my L67 vy calais as a cheap temporary upgrade until I have enough money spare for coilovers, current front left strut is buggered and don't want to fork out for shortened struts, already have shortened shock rears also, car is also on SSL all around.

They would be as close to being the same, even in the springs as the cast iron ecotec V6 and the alloy LS1 V8 are similar weights give or take 5kg.
Not like when they ran the Holden V8 which was 40kg heavier than the V6.
