Hi guys, now this is just a idea at the moment but would anyone be able to comment on doing fender/Guard flares on a ute for FAT wheels i know it has been done on the Zen Garage maloo and a couple others around the place but what actually does it involve? and would i be able to do the bolt on ones myself or if i wanted to go the one piece route what kind of shop would i be have to goto would it just be a good body work shop?

Any suggestions or help will be awesome and views on the subject of it are welcome :)

You'd need a custom panel job to have your guards pumped I'd say and it won't be cheap.

Have not seen nor heard of anything off the shelf that just bolts on. The rear guards will be the hardest.

Yeah I thought so, I've seen Universal ones that you modify and they just bolt on once you have cut back the original guard

Nothing bolt on for sure. But heres a maloo that's being done by Adam Lebreese for a guy up in Queensland, ****-tone of money and work involved but does look amazing.

Here is another example here (bit extreme) with custom body work which is what you would need. Sedan in this case. No bolt ons and not a great paint match on some of the worked panels.

I think it looks a bit **** and ruins the body shape but just an opinion.

Gmans G8 only has rolled guards

There's build threads on street commodore which show the body work on FAT R8, ZEN and MACHINE which are all utes (black Maloo's!!)

To do bolt on's it be the same process as flairs on a 260Z or SLR 5000. Modifying around door openings will be the hard hence why I believe all the 'all steel' wide body's are utes
