vl turbo bt1, ve series 2 sv6
a mate of mine bought a 2010 calias series 2 new about 12 months ago, and had put about 60K on it
the other day it caught fire in the boot and totaled the car, they suggested that the battery bracket came loose and shorted out,
has anyone heard of this happening before or had this problem themselves

This is the first time I have heard of this problem. My first though was that the battery just simply over heated.

Did they replace his car with a brand new Calais or what?

Yeah, I would be asking for a new car if not a full refund.

This is stupid.

This is why you buy insurance.

Bro it's a 2010 model commodore with a faulty battery bracket. You would go through Holdens warranty before insurance wouldn't you?

There's no proof, only suggestion that it was the battery bracket that somehow came loose and shorted out. What part shorted out on what? Who touched the battery last? Was it product failure of the battery bracket? It's done 60,000km. That's plenty of time for somebody to have fiddled with the Battery at some stage.

As sabbath said, It's an insurance problem not a holden problem.

One car out of how many tens of thousand VE's sold has had this issue...

Ah ok yeah I see what you mean. A lot of **** could have happened in the 12 months that he has owned it for.

Hope you had insurance man!
