This should be sticky.

I can see someone emergency braking and ending up with their foot on the exhaust...

“Not a manufacturing fault?” fFS...

I had a brake fluid leak and booster got a hole.
Booster 7 weeks to come from USA.
Going to panel shop on Monday.

Any chance you saw if you had the smaller (main culprit of the rust) sound insulation behind the booster, or does yours only have the top piece?

Thanks.

Trying to figure out if a VE Series 2 would be less likely to have this happen.

Only the VF is not prone to this problem. The same part is made of high density plastic.

It’s not from the insulation causing this. The insulation hides it. It’s from the use of thin mild steel and the rust starts at the welds of the studs. This can happen with or without the insulation. The panel is only painted, not electroplated.

I deleted the insulation around here for the reason of being able to see the panel condition.

There has been no noticeable change in noise inside. Nor heat.

I painted mine with a zinc based paint before installing.

Hmm. I assumed it was due to the insulation holding the water and the moisture eating through it, was hoping the series 2 would possibly last longer than the series 1 due to the removal of some insulation panels around that area.

That sucks for VE owners then.. Looks like i'll be getting a VF and having to deal with the electric steering issues rather than the rusty pedal plate issue. Dammit Holden!
