I'm a first-timer to doing a full-on mechanical overhaul of modern motors I am the first to admit but I can't afford 3k to change head gaskets. So I started pulling things off.

Now the book arrives - the Haynes manual. And ...

I didn't realise the fuel lines would stay pressurised. So.

Do I re-assemble then do the 'pull-the-fuse' trick ? Or is there a way to do it without all the palava of cleaning intake gaskets and replacing busted O-rings on the inlet etc., etc.

De-pressurising the wreckers way is what I need...

Cheers,

I've taken various parts off the top of the motor but it looks as though I might need to reverse my direction. Unless of course, the fuel line doesn't need to be detached from the doody-whatsit. If someone knows whether I could just move the part aside while I get the heads off that'd be helpful ...

If you have gone that far it would be a pain to reassemble it. Id probably disconnect the fuel line and let the fuel squirt everywhere. Maybe undo the line at the filter if it has an external one just watch your eyes.

Stuff all fuel comes out just dc the pipe and guard your eyes.

Head gaskets? Very rare for VE to do gaskets 6 or 8 you sure it's been diagnosed correctly?
