Mate of mine has an original '69 HT 2 door GTS 350 Munro "Trans-Aus" with factory 4 speed in mint condition.
Only has 40K miles on it.
Bog stock original with zero mods - i.e. as it left the factory (heading to Bathurst - maybe?)
Recently valued at $150,000+.
Kept it in a sealed garage then later a shipping container.
Not bad when you consider the original dealer price was about $4K.
Thinking of installing a Flux Capacitor for future fuel requirements. :idea3:
No, you can't drive it.
No, it's not for sale.
I could tell you where it is but then I'd have to kill you...

On the face of it, that looks good; but then if he'd put that $4k into a bank account & put the running-costs into the same account, he'd probably be ahead. And that's without taking garaging costs into account.
Except anyone can do that, it doesn't take luck in buying the right car! :)

But then he wouldn't have been able to enjoy driving a nice car. Money is meant to be enjoyed, not hoarded. It's all well and good to have savings, but there's little point saving every dollar you make and not enjoying any.

Carl Williams had a gold coffin - and still couldn't take it with him.
He also had "ocpeR" imprinted on the back of his scone...

40K miles on the clock included meeting a lot of decent people and enthusiasts along the way at various shows over 50 years.
Can't get that from a bank paying a pissy 2% interest.

Only 40k miles means it hasn't been enjoyed a helluva lot in 48 years.
If it'd been driven & enjoyed, it'd be a patchwork pile of 300k mile bog by now.

wonder how they came to that price?

$60k car with $20k blower/cam package? maybe a tad more, but surely not much more?

"REDLINE NOW BY ORDER !! "

I'd say they are hoping for someone with deep pockets and no patience.....gotta have it now.

Nah mate - It's been driven to Bathurst as a tourer a couple of times.
1st time cost my mate his license for 3 years thanks to the local Constabulary ;)
This was well before the days of impound.
Took him almost that long to wipe the drool and hand prints off the bodywork - including the cops.

Patience is a virtue.
It's certainly not wasted.
We have a ceremonial Man Cave BBQ/piss-up prior to firing it up every now and then.
Done a couple of local HWY events recently - but it doesn't go "Suu-tu-tu" or "doof doof" so what's the point of impressing the CGI crowd?
However it DOES go "bodega bodega bodega" with 500 reliable naturally aspirated ponies on tap.

What I'm saying here is: Buy a potential classic and don't mess with it.
It will be worth a LOT more in the future if you can restrain yourself.
I miss my '67 HR X2. I sold it for a measly $700.

If the VF SII LS3 is any good - and time will tell - then it too will be worth mothballing for the future.
Meanwhile smother it with love, don't drive the wheels off it or screw it up with costly mods.
There's a HUGE difference between a virgin and a "nearly virgin".
You will NEVER own the fastest car on the street.
It's a bit like Smith's crisps - the original and the best and still in business today.
