As first home buyers it’s not really practical to purchase land unless you’re able to pay for it outright. Many banks don’t want to lend with land only as their security which narrows your choice of lenders. There is a government scheme at the moment, but you need to purchase house/land package to be eligible.
Don't believe what people say, we purchased a block with a loan, bank was fine with it. 2.79% so as good as what most banks offer. We had no deposit just a rural property that already had a mortgage on it as security.

I might try to move this thread back on topic.
Gardening/landscaping - what fruits has everyone got going on?
We bought this place just over a year ago and it is packed with different fruits.
Just last week a big red banana flower began to open - so I am keeping a regular eye on them so as not to leave it too late before chopping (like I did with the last hand)

My wife has the green fingers in this household. If it were left up to me everything would perish and die. As for fruit we, I mean she grows with remarkable success pineapples and mulberries. Because of the amount of rain we have had an abundance of pumpkins. What we have never had success with is our lemon and orange trees. If anyone has any idea why we are not getting fruit from these trees it would be appreciated

Got bored and decided to put in a retaining wall at home for a new entertaining area.

Since i took the picture i've put a topping down and installed stirrups for a roof. Might have the roof up by 2025 but i've told Mrs. Sab not to hold her breath.

My missus got an orange tree a few years ago but she's planted in the wrong spot= not anywhere near enough sun , it's still healthy but has not grown or /so not fruited.
She also planted a cherry tomato plant near it .= it was very successful.

Just not for her Ha ha ha
= She has a black labrador who had access in the yard to where the tomato plant was so he got all the spoils .
Ha ha ha ha ,soooo funny = they love their food!!!!

She has now planted more tomato seeds along with a can't remember what in a raised garden bed that he doesn't have access to without us being there=;)
She's also planted strawberries and I think rhubarb.
Put 2 passionfruit vines in about 18 months ago .
Possums or something got to 1 but the other one is going great guns.
The other week she raved on at me= ( I told you not to pick any)
All good when I pointed out the dozen I'd picked up were already on the ground .
Not huge ,( maybe next year), most are only 1.5to 1.8 bigger than a golf ball but tasty and as sweet as !!

That's a lot of rooves/angles/complication, architect designed? The more complicated and expensive they can get the build the more $ they make. Many different angles on the roof requires expensive sealant which bumps the price up. Stipulate some exotic anti allergy/greener than green brown paint accessed only from a socially responsible eco company in Bolivia at $1200 a litre. Only applied by a specialist who uses the latest plasma etching technique at $163 a square metre. But all worth it because you can say your house is architect designed, might be a touch exaggerated but there is some truth in there.

Make sure the soil drains well and it’s not a clay type soil and the ph is between 5.5 and 6.5.
Keep them sheltered from strong winds but with plenty of sun.
