yeh, will be keeping the factory kill switch on the bike, need it for roady anyway from memory. good to know about the 8v cranking issue.

did he solve it? or just ditch the m-lock?

You can put a capacitor across the m-lock and it'll keep it up while its cranking. His prob was that he put a smaller battery in so he could hide it under the seat..... sounds like a familiar story..
From memory they tell you the cap you need in the manual for it.

i finally got my swingarm back from my old boss, he was sandblasting it. did a pretty poor job, but upon actually looking at it, i think its bent anyway. i gotta bolt a wheel up and get it on the frame and see how it sits, if its fubar, ill have to use another swingarm. i'll probably get lazy and use the stock shock for now if i have to do that.

might play around with cutting some blanking sheets for the tail on the weekend if i get bored
