try drag your car keys or shopping bags down the side of your black car and then go and do the same to your wife white SUV and tell me, at a glance, what the difference is in the end result

It's two cars with a big scratch down the side.
White paint is no harder than black paint.

i never used the word harder mate as you're right - both are as hard or soft as one another. black metallic base has a clear top coat that turns.... wait for it..... WHITE when you mark it! surprise! White paint may or may not have clear that also turns white when you mark it but this time - the colour underneath is the same so it's like magic..... you can't see the mark. try it sometime. treat it like a real basic experiment from year 4 science class
