Has anyone changed their steering wheel to a custom?

Considering either retrim I get my wheel, or getting a custom.

Can get my existing wheel Redone with perforated leather on sides and matte leather top and bottom for $299, or a new custom wheel that is thicker, molded and reuse my controls / horn pad for $879

Thoughts?

I really liked my thicker moulded wheel I had in my SRT, and I figure it’s the part you touch / use always!

Can’t comment on the VF custom version but I changed from the SSV standard wheel to a HSV wheel I had retrimmed in my VE and the difference is amazing. It’s like you said, you use it all the time in the car so you really notice it. Easily worth it so a thicker wheel would get my vote.

I recovered my vf wheel. Not happy with colour. I'll eventually redo it? Wanted thicker. The company that did it said they couldn't make it thicker.
Another company said they couldn't make it thicker aswell.

Pics a bit dark. I'll have to get around to getting a better pic.

I’m not sure I have any appreciation for a wheel that’s any more hefty than an SSV/SSVR wheel. IMHO it’s the right diameter, and the thickness is fine for a nice grip.

Not really custom but i upgraded the boring sv6 wheel to the perforated flat bottom white stitching wheel from holmart last year when they were $198, now you are looking at $550 for the same wheel. Think i should of bought a few to make a make a nice profit lol

The HSV wheels feel a lot nicer in your hands, makes the steering feel better.

Nice wheel, that's a shocking mark up on the price though.
It almost makes me feel like I got a bargain at $400, almost

I purchased a Flat bottomed wheel last year with Red Stitching for About $170 from eBay. I then got the Paddle shift kit and wheel and so gave the Red stitch wheel to my dad for his VF as a Christmas present

There is now some red stitch wheels on eBay for $900.

Told him I might take it back........

But in all seriousness, if you have an automatic car, youre better off buying a paddles shift wheel and kit and getting your BCM flashed to accept the paddles, as the wheels with Paddle cutouts seem to be still <$400

Its a bloody joke. Cant tell if its that the wheels are no longer being manufactured, or just profiteering from the sellers. I enquired with a Holden dealer about the cost of a white stitch wheel, and even they quoted $800. Its just pure profiteering now

.. helps that the actual steering is also adjustable for 'weighting' :)

Ooh, wot this means?

Is that a mechanic thing, or through HSV's version of the MyLink menu stuffs?
Or is this part of the system linked to that little wheel/adjustment doohickey in the middle of the centre-console?
