ya mum!
Cheers! :D So basically in VE, unless you want a horsepower hero, there is no need to go MAFless. Certainly nothing you'll ever notice on the road...?

Unplug the MAF sensor plug and see if the car behaves any different?

Did this... Seemed to be running fine but ESP was off and wouldn't turn back on till it was plugged back in. What's that all about?

Unplugging the MAF sensor looks like it interrupted the data bus, which can cause all sorts of issues/warnings including ESP, ABS etc.
I believe it should not have made a difference if the MAF was disabled in the tune AFAIK.
Could be a sh*t tune, somebody with more knowledge might pop in and confirm.

Possibly MAFless only IAT sensor wire remains connected?
Clear codes, read fresh.

I'm guessing iy you undo the the duct tape you will find one wire has been removed from the plug and then had the plug re-inserted.

That's spot on. I undid the tape not long after I purchased the car but didn't really know what I was looking at so I put the tape back on. I definitely recall one wire being cut. So is the reasoning for this to make it appear the mafs still in use?

why oh why do they cut the ####ing wire?!? it takes 30 seconds to remove the wire and pin from the plug and then should you ever decide to put it back in... just slide the pin back into the plug and job done.
