G'day to all
got a commodore VTII executive the other day (first car).I bought a new head unit and a pair of speakers.my no hope of a brother said that he would install it for me for $20.anyway long story short he has gotten halfway through it and taken off without finishing it.in the photo below thats whats left.i think that there must have been a plug or something on the end of those wires and i would say that he has cut it off to do it his way but all the videos i have seen show the plug stays connected.is there anything i can do now? or is it stuffed? i cant ask him either!
any help appreciated.

cheers

Firstly, I'd be kicking ur brother in the balls.
Secondly, well get this post moved into the car audio section.

Thirdly, if your bro knew what he was doing, he would have purchased an adaptor plug to go from ur original plug to ur new head unit, negating the need to butcher the plug.

I dont have the wiring diag for a vt, but someone will post up soon enough with what wire colours are what, and with a bit of guidance well get ur ears filled with music.

definately fixable.

he has most likely blown some fuses under the steering column, so they will need to be replaced(id replace after wiring is done, or theyll most likely be blown again).

now, you can either do it yourself, preferably with a soldering iron, following this wiring colour chart

or take the car to any competant car audio shop, or your nearest autobarn might have an install bay that can do it.

If you not confident in wiring it up your self, before replacing fuses (if there blown), chuck some electrical tape around the exposed wires!
All honestly its not a hard job at all, just match up a cars wiring diagram and the radios wiring diagram and solder the wires up.

no point in spending money on another factory plug, get the new neadunit plug wired up to it.

I assume that plug thing goes into the back of your headunit, the wires in your car simply need to be joined with a little solder to the wires on that plug thing. Simple job.

Surely you have a mate that knows what they are doing or that can use a soldering iron?
