I thought the FBT would kill the option of novated lease paying the 20% of the purchase price as tax. This is in the lease payments each month. Maybe I am wrong but I worked it out to be better off paying a low interest loan. Packaging was only good years ago when the rate was only 10% when you did more than 20K KMs each year.

You don't pay 20% of vehicle costs as tax. That's just the flat % for the statutory formula.
