I never really got the Corvette thing ... to me it was always just an American alternative to performance. Even once they started making them actually go. The saving grace for the most recent one, for me, was the fact it was mid-engined - gave it something more than the "downscaled garbage-truck without downscaled engine" vibes it always had. Having said that, the comment's a bit irrelevant as I'd never have bought one for the money they are here (and in fact a direct conversion from US MSRP still seems a bit much for what, to me, is "only" a Corvette).
