hose in water tank

I am replacing the front guard today.

When I done the job, I find the a hose coming out from the water tank, and I have no idea where is it go?
Anyone can tell me where should connect it?

It doesnt "connect" to anything. I sits in a hole near the base of the battery.

As above, it goes to the ground.

I believe thats the overflow tube, so if the pressure gets too high the coolant/steam is directed away from anything important
